Kenji is a Pokémon watcher, whom meets up with Satoshi and Kasumi. Kenji, however, not only watches and studies Pokémon; he also sketches pictures of Pokémon. (Hence the name Sketchit.) Kenji traveled, along with Satoshi and Kasumi, through the Orange Islands, only because they knew Ookido-Hakase. He replaced Takeshi, while Takeshi stayed with

Kenji admires Ookido-Hakase and looks up to him. Probably his greatest dream is to work under Ookido-Hakase as his apprentice. He also wouldn't mind showing him his sketches of the Pokémon he's seen while on his adventure. He will soon enough achieve his dream after Satoshi competes in the Orange League Competition and returns to Pallet.

What qualities do you need to have to be a Pokémon watcher? You need to have great vision and sharp hearing! Sure, Kenji doesn't have these qualities, but his Pokémon do! Kenji's Mariru usually can hear a Pokémon before Kenji even knows its there. Kenji's Konpan helps him to find the certain Pokémon that he's searching for before he can spot it. Sutoraiku... we don't know what it does. It's really old.
